Lyndsey Selley, owner and professional artist, has had a lifelong passion for art, with over 30 years of experience as both a collector and curator. Throughout her career, Lyndsey has built a strong network of artists, collectors, and industry experts, which has played a crucial role in the success of Jarva Gallery and the more recent opening of the exciting Jarva Fine Art at the stunning Crescent Hotel in Buxton.

Our Story

The original Jarva Gallery and picture framers, located in Whaley Bridge, began its journey with the sale of one of Lyndsey Selley’s own original wildlife paintings at Christie's Auctions in New York in 2009.


When Lyndsey needed a temporary space to continue her painting while her new home studio was being built, she discovered a location in Whaley Bridge that would become the first Jarva Gallery. What was intended to be a 12-month venture turned into a 15-year journey—proof, perhaps, that she was a little distracted by the joy of the gallery experience!


In March 2024, the original gallery closed its doors permanently, ending its picture framing services, to focus entirely on the continued success of Jarva Fine Art. Located in the stunning Crescent Hotel in Buxton, Jarva Fine Art opened in 2021 and has since become the new home for art lovers and collectors.

Ellie Meads- Gallery Manager

In November 2024, we are excited to welcome Ellie Meads, Lyndsey's daughter, to the Jarva Fine Art family. With a background in hospitality, Ellie brings exceptional people skills, a keen eye for design, and a lifelong appreciation for art. Surrounded by creativity from a young age, her youthful energy and fresh perspective will help push the gallery forward into its next chapter.


We are thrilled to have Ellie on board, and we look forward to the exciting contributions she will bring to the gallery's future.

Lyndsey Selley- Gallery Owner

With nearly 20 years of experience as a professional artist, Lyndsey founded Jarva Gallery in 2009, bringing her passion for art and dedication to the gallery’s success. As the heart and soul of the gallery, she is responsible for curating the exhibitions, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring the gallery remains a vibrant space for art lovers.


In 2025, Lyndsey plans to split her time between her beloved gallery and her easel, returning to her roots as a practicing artist while continuing to nurture the growth of Jarva Fine Art.

  Why the name Jarva?

The name Jarva holds deep personal significance for Lyndsey Selley, inspired by her trips to South Africa where she gathered material for her original paintings.


During one of these trips, she encountered a stunning leopard, named Jarva by the locals. This majestic creature quickly became a muse for Lyndsey, inspiring many of her original artworks and limited edition prints.


When it came time to open the gallery, it felt only right to honour this special muse by naming it after Jarva. For those familiar with Lyndsey’s work, Jarva is synonymous with her wildlife art, and many may still have one of her limited edition prints or even an original piece of the beautiful leopard on their walls.
